Relapse & Recovery
“There’s a couple different ways that obsession happens. Some obsessions are just unwanted, repetitive thoughts – they feel like a really intense craving. Then there’s the type that happens but doesn’t have that feeling behind it. It’s just a thought. For me, I could be driving down the road, completely sane, thinking, ‘Oh I’ll just stop for a couple beers.’ And it could end up ruining my life.” READ MORE

Navigating Early Recovery
The early days of recovery can be both exciting and challenging as you adjust to a new way of life. One of the biggest challenges many of us faced during this time was navigating the people, places, and things that might trigger cravings to use and lead to a possible setback in our recovery.
Our #1 sobriety tip to anyone new in recovery is to avoid spending time with people who may encourage you to drink or use drugs or socializing at risky places like bars, neighborhood parties (where the drinks are flowing) or casinos. Instead, surround yourself with supportive friends, peers, and family members who understand your commitment to sobriety, and remember you can always reach out to us for extra support.
Recovery is a journey and it's okay to ask for help when you need it. Stay strong, stay sober, and congratulations again on this important step in your life.
Relapse is Not a Requirement
Although it's common to hear that relapse is part of the journey, it's important to remember that it doesn't have to be. With the right support, tools, and mindset, individuals can make lasting changes and maintain their sobriety.
Support is a crucial component of recovery, as it provides encouragement, accountability, and a sense of community. By staying committed to their recovery journey and seeking help when needed, individuals can overcome addiction and live fulfilling lives.

SOBER TEACHER
Hello, my name is Jessica. For years, I struggled to balance my professional life with my addiction to alcohol. To cope with the guilt, I worked diligently to be the best teacher, the best employee, and the best at everything. I spent years at happy hours counting others' drinks so I could pretend to drink like a "normal" person while aching to go home to isolate and imbibe. That painful lifestyle is behind me.
Today, I stand proud of who I am and embrace all parts of me. My recovery is no longer a secret. Instead, it is my story to share.
Imagine a place where recovery isn't just about individual healing, but about transforming the very soil where addiction takes root. Where communities reclaim their power to nurture well-being, and families find strength in shared resilience. That's the California we're creating.
